Description
It is not often that an author of a motoring book can justly claim to have written a definitive work on his favourite subject at his first attempt. This is precisely the case with Michael Hay and this work on the vintage years of the Bentley.
Based on a comprehensive collection of over 500 photographs of coachbuilt Bentleys, many newly discovered and others unpublished until now, each chapter gives a complete breakdown of the models: 3 litre, 4.5 litre, 4.5 litre supercharged, (separate chapter on The Birkin Blowers) 6.5 litre (inc Speed Six) 8 litre and 4 litre, with chassis and model specification.
A full account of the company’s racing history into the early 1930s is also presented. In the Tables, which form an integral and important part of the work, the author gives details of the cars with new Chassis Number, Engine Number, Registration, Date, Type of Body, Coachbuilder, First owner and their subsequent history, where known.
This information is fully cross-referenced with more derived from periodicals and other publications. This book is without doubt one of the most comprehensive surveys of the Vintage WO Bentley.
