Description

Large format hardback tracing the involvemt of the Gulf Oil company in motorsport.

This began with funding the rear-engined MILLER indy 500 cars in the 1930s but really kicked off in the 1960s with JW Autromotive”s famous and successful GT40s which won Le Mans and many other races in 1968 and 69.

Then the same team’s Porsche 917s in 1970-71 which dominated the sports car world championship, the McLaren F1 and Indy cars of the late 60s and early 70s, Mirage sports racers (le Mans winners in 1975) and after a long absense returned with a Le Mans Kremer Porsche 962 in 1984 and the McLaren F1 GT cars team of 1995-97 which dominated the BOPR GT series before factory Porsche, Merecedes and Panoz teams rather spoiled the fun.

The last car featured is Stefan Johannson’s lovely looking Audi R8 ALMS/Le Mans car from 2000.

Wonderful book by a well respected sports car racing historian who saw many of the events first hand and knew most of those involved.

Hardback in fine, as new condition.
