Description
Scarce book with an interesting provenance. [after spending the last three years of the war living on his boat on the River Thames, David Scott-Moncrieff (1907-87, nick-name ‘Bunty’) and his wife left in 1946 on a motoring trip in a 5-litre Bugatti touring car, journeying through Norway, Sweden, Finland, Lapland and Denmark.
Alexander Chinnery-Haldane (1907-1994) was 27th Laird of Gleneagles and shared the author’s interest in cars and motorsport. It is almost certain that the two men were acquaintances through wealthy Scottish family connections and also through their shared interest in cars.
Hardback in very good condition for age. Blue boards in clean, good condition. Inside some browning to intro blank page plus previous owner’s name, otherwise very clean and well bound. White dust wrapper has inevitably got one or two grubby marks and scuffing to edges and spine. Rare book.
