Joseph Grose began his working life in Northampton’s leather trade, then, through athletics, racing ‘penny-farthing’ bicycles, he was led into the pioneer world of the automobile. Having introduced the motor car to Northamptonshire, the firm he established specialised in producing bespoke coachwork of high quality, for which it became world famous.
