Description
In the romance of Grand Prix racing and racing cars, the six year period 1934-1939, saw the development and increase of speed in a new light.
To break standard Grand Prix entries of the time from Italian and French manufacturers such as Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Bugatti, the Germans produced the Silver Arrow team of Mercedes Benz and Auto Union.
This book contains an overwhelming array of historical material on the Auto Unions born from the genius of Ferdinand Porsche. The Italian authors Gianni Chancellors and Caesar De Agostini, have brought together a wealth of material and images which not only look at and study the technical and production build of the cars, but also their racing success with drivers such as Hans Stuck, Bernd Rosemeyer and Nuvolari and many more.
All are given a brief resume of the details at the rear of the book, along with specifications of the various 16 and 12 cylinder Type models A-E, 1934-1939 and of record breaking attempts at Avus and Francoforte-Heildelberg. The good number of action close up photographs offer both interested enthusiasts and historians a very good reference work.
Fantastic photography. Text in Italian. Hardback in generally good condition throughout.
