The complete History of the rear-engined birdcage Maseratis.
These incredibly complex racing cars are a mass of tubes cradling the mechanical, liquid and human components that make up this amazing Sports Racing Car, allowing for a body skin as close to the total assembly as is physically possible, the effect being a unique car in the extreme.
Incredibly fast, they were also very demanding of the skill of those who drove them and the re-jigging of an even slightly damaged chassis does not bear contemplating!
29 Chapters + Appendix’s make up the 336pp of the large format book covering every detail of development and Competition at the highest International Level. For those of us who can remember these cars racing at Le Mans, they were always in the thick of the action right up front.
How many can remember ‘Lucky’ Casner and his sliding style that suited these cars through the esses at the Sarthe circuit. All the magic moments are reproduced in many in full colour and full page. A wonderful tribute book to a long forgotten period of ultimate Macho Motor Racing.
Dalton Watson publication, hardback in excellent condition.
