Description

Under the charismatic leadership of men like Reginald Maudslay and Captain John Black the Standard Motor Company, and later Standard-Triumph, grew from one of Britain’s pioneer motor manufacturers to one of the country’s biggest car makers and exporters in the postwar period.

Along the way, Standard absorbed many other companies – including Triumph – and spread its influence far and wide. Standards were known for their solid and reliable engineering allied to value for money.

These virtues ensured that many of Britain’s and the Commonwealth’s most enduringly popular cars and light commercials wore Standard badges. Standard also supplied the engines and chassis upon which were assembled SS and later the earliest Jaguar cars.

The company supplied components to Jensen, Morgan, Saab, TVR, Marcos, Railton, Warwick, Peerless, Fairthorpe and BRM, as well as coachbuilders like Avon.

Hardback in generally very good condition with good dust jacket. Scarce.
