Few companies have been more important in the development of the motor car than Daimler-Benz/Mercedes Benz.

Here the the author presents a fully rounded history of the company, its founders and explains how the famed Mercedes name stemmed from that of the 10 year old daughter of an early Daimler distributor.

Illustrations rather than text are used to follow the technological and style developments of the company’s vehicles from the late 1800s to 1970. The company’s racing efeorts are covered and 13 pages of line drawings, usually 8 per page, present the various models in date order.
