Description

Top quality book by respected marque experts subtitled The evolution. of the Sporting Car 1910-1930 . Exhaustive detail backed up by original photographs and documentation, plus a list of the surviving cars.

The story starts with the first sporting model Sunbeam of 1912 and the development of this and subsequent sporting models are described, leading up to the announcement of the Three-Litre ‘Super Sports’ model in 1924. The initial development of this model is examined including its most successful entry in the gruelling and stressful 1925 Le Mans 24 hour motor race, in which it came second to the larger engined winner and trouncing the much fancied Bentleys.

The year by year development of the model throughout its six year production run is described. Using many previously unseen photographs, both mono and colour, period road tests, and the testaments of contemporary and present owners, the story is told of some of these prestigious Sunbeam motor cars, listing the surviving examples of the 315 cars built and their individual histories.

Hardbound in good condition with clean dust jacket.
