Description
The BRM race car project was always troubled with the immense cost of producing a complicated car and motor virtually from scratch.
Rivers Fletcher’s opening chapter “The BRM Project” covers those and other issues, as well as the success the car and engine achieved in the mid-1950s with drivers of the calibre of Parnell, Fangio, Wharton and Flockhart at the wheel.
In the second section extracts from the magazine “The Motor” by its editor Laurence Pomeroy are merged into “The Background, Layout and Performance of the BRM Engine.” His technical text is complemented by two charts. The central section of the book contains eight technical illustrations, two showing the motor’s external characteristics, the remaining six revealing the internals of the engine in highly detailed two-colour cut-away representations.
These technical drawings are displayed on clear-view glassine inserts. The cut-aways have the various parts number designated with the numbered reference lists printed on the preceeding and following page.
The book also has four b/w photographs. This account of a great British motor racing venture is the more interesting because it was dedicated to “all the various people who have supported the B R M project”.
Scarce hardback in generally good condition, green boards with orange lettering good, although have some fading to edges, inside very clean and complete. Dust cover has some scuffs and small losses to edges, now protected by clear cover. Sought after.
