Description

Second edition. This is the competition record of one of the most famous marques in the history of motor racing, compiled and written by an authority on the subject, Darell Berthon (at one time Secretary to the Bentley Drivers Club).

Every major race from that significant first appearance of W.O.’s 3 litre masterpiece at the Essex Motor Club’s meeting in May 1921, the 1922 Tourist Trophy race, to the many Le Mans events and onto the Brooklands 500 mile race in September 1931 is covered, and each is accompanied by vivid and unusual photographs, a number of which are also rare and previously unpublished.

The full appendices are particularly fascinating to the enthusiast, ranging from details of the 1931 & 1932 Brooklands 500 miles race, to details of the Brooklands Track cars, both two seater and single seater along with the Specials such as the Barnato single-seater machine.

There is also a comprehensive table of statistics which details records held by Bentleys and major races in which Bentleys took part during the 1921-1932 period, and this includes a chassis number reference to the cars which competed.

Book is in generally good condition, clean green boards with minimal bumping. INside there is some foxing to iniitial pages and light browning to somee page edges. Otherwise very clean. No dust wrapper
