Raymond Sommer (1906–1950) was a legendary French racing driver known as “Le Sanglier des Ardennes” (The Wild Boar from the Ardennes) and “Raymond Cœur de Lion” (Raymond Lionheart) for his exceptional stamina, fierce courage, and independent racing style.

Won Le Mans twice and the French Grand Prix in 1936. This is his remarkable story, with extensive contemporary photography, text in French.
